Halloween Weekend #2

Pure exhaustion has come over me.
Dopey.
Sluggish.
Slombersome.
Those are all me, and I have the beautiful windows at Bath & Body works to thank for that. I'll never catch back up on that sleep. I don't have time to play catch up on the zzz's. So here it is - short post for a long weekend. I'm sure you guys won't mind if its mostly pictures. A picture is worth a thousand words. Sorry they are uncropped, unedited and a few are blurry!

Memaw & Granddaddy drove over to visit today, and it was so good to see them! We hung out over at my parent's house, and celebrated my dad's birth. I'm so glad he was born all those years ago!!! Amelia loved trick or treating, and was a hoot to walk around with. Not to mention the cutest kid on the block/in the world. I laughed so hard at her chasing a dog {really at my dad's snickering} I thought I was going to wet myself standing in a stranger's front yard. Amelia went to sleep pretty easily tonight, and I have a feeling things will go the same for me - as soon as I wrap this up. Which is now. Hope everyone else had a great weekend! Night.

Halloween Weekend

So glad the weekend is here!! We get to celebrate Halloween, my dad's birthday and visit with family! AND YARD SALE! I haven't been to a yard sale in over a month. I wanted to go this morning, but I'm waiting on my mom to get home to rummage through people's stuff with me. Instead, we took Amelia to a breakfast date at IHOP, and she was on a much better behavior than she was when I took her out to dinner with my friend Katie! I don't know if it was because her dad was there or the spankings {and threat of spankings} are working - either way, I'll take it! After breakfast we picked up some cute pumpkins from her preschool's Pumpkin Patch and will hopefully paint them sometime over the weekend. Also on the "to paint" list...

Amelia would love them! Maybe not Angry Birds? Sesame Street?

I hope everyone has a great weekend, and eats lots of candy. I know we will!

Letters to Amelia

Amelia,

Yesterday it was just me and you all day! Your dad was with his other love, the sea! I enjoy days that are just you and me days. I know they won't always be just us two, so anytime I feel like I'd like a break I remind myself to enjoy it while it lasts. One day you won't come and grab my hand and take me to the door to go outside, or drag me to your room to put shoes on you or play with blocks.

Speaking of shoes, you have a serious love for them - you get that honest. We are having shoe issues around here. Big shoes, small shoes, skinny shoes, missing shoes... So today we were on a search for shoes that fit you. I loaded you up and took you to a consignment store in town and found you 5 pairs of shoes for $22!! Whoop, whoop! You've got  one thrifty, momma! You had so much fun playing with babies, and climbing in baby seats. I hope you always want to go shopping with me. Pick me when you're 14 and want to go to the mall! I promise I'll still have better taste than any of your friends. :)

We had dinner at Auntie M and Uncle Jake's house, and you had a blast playing hide & go seek with uncle Jake. I love watching you laugh! I could do it all day and never get bored. When I think about having another baby one day, I worry it will take away from my time with you. I know that's silly. I'll still love you so much my heart hurts. I know my heart won't have less room for you, it will just grow bigger to make room for your brother or sister.

You used to go right to sleep when we put you down, but last night {and every night for the past few weeks} you thought bedtime was playtime. Anytime I would come in to lay you back down you would be standing in your bed with your blanky on your head, or you would be kissing on Mr. Giraffe. Your bedtime rituals have changed so much since you were born. I secretly like your bedtime games, and making Mr. Giraffe kiss you all over the face until you get the hiccups from giggling. I love you more than you know!!

Love,
Your Momma

Fair 2011

Well, Northwest Florida's Fair in Fort Walton Beach is not much to write {home} about, but I'll do it anyways. It makes Griffin GA's fair look like the Perry Fair. And the corn dogs? Got nothin' on Kiwanis' Corn Dogs at the Griffin Fair, even though they were a foot long. Funny to think we have been "spoiled" with Griffin's Fair. Hah! Either way, I'm glad we went and took Amelia. She jumped in the jumping bean, slid down a slide and watched us play games. She is kind of a chicken like her momma, and would not be down with riding the kiddie rides without someone holding her hand. Since I do not weigh less than 100 lbs I was not allowed to ride rides with her. What parents do weigh under 100 lbs???

Uncle Bo came with us though and that is always a treat! Amelia loves her Uncle Bo. They slid down the huge slide together, and while we expected Amelia to freak out she was all smiles!

Gi won Amelia a Kung Fu Panda by popping balloons & I won her an alligator at the Rusty the Rat table! Just what we need around here - more stuffed animals!

 {Rose was the lucky winner!}

Lastly, we visited the animals they had there. Which consisted of a turkey who made me dream of Thanksgiving dinner, scary chickens/roosters and some rabbits. All in cages. Not very impressive! Amelia's "bwak"ing like a chicken {the whole way home} was way more impressive.

To sum it up, the food was ehh, the rides a little rickety, family time was good, but Amelia was lonely. She needs Poppy to hurry up and get here and grow up a little so they can jump in the jumping bean together.

Off to the craft store to buy some felt so Auntie M {the best Auntie ever} can make Amelia a hat for her costume since her hat doesn't fit her big ol' head. Bless her heart, bad genes.

Happy Wednesday!

Home

This past weekend we went home to visit family in Griffin, Georgia. Well not home, but to our former hometown. Our home is 100% where we are at now - Florida. Although I know very few people here, I feel more at home than I have in a long time. When we moved to Florida, it was like the three of us started a new life together here. The house in Columbus never felt like home, and I wish that wasn't where Amelia had spent the first 6 months of her life. It is what it is though! Anyways, back to the point of this post - we enjoyed visiting our hometown. Adam and I took Amelia to Noah's Ark. An awesome place in Locust Grove, Ga. We gave a $15 donation, and if we had the money to spend we would've gone back to give more. It was just as good or better than any zoo we've been to lately, and 1/4 of the price. We got super close to all of the animals, and Amelia had fun chasing ducks in the big grass patch by the Tiger's cage! We will definitely be back anytime we have a few hours to spare when visiting family/friends.

We took Amelia to a Fall Festival my friend Samantha was working at that same night. I couldn't wait for her to do Fall Festival things like have her face painted, take a hay ride and eat candy. She was very unsure of having her face painted, but gave in and let the nice girl paint a pumpkin on her face. Amelia was the littlest little there, so we didn't stick around too long {much to my dismay - as I missed the cake walk}. She was soon to be trampled by the candy-hungry big kids.

Honey's house has lots of yard for Amelia to stretch her legs, and stretch her legs she does. Outside or up and down the stairs are Amelia's favorite things to do when we visit her Honey.

 {Online shopping with her Granddaddy}

We will be going back home to visit at the end of November to celebrate Thanksgiving and Adam's mom's tradition of lighting her wreaths. It's a very special night for her, and we love being able to be there for it. We are back home now and it is AWESOME! I woke up this morning in my own bed, and laid there and thought about how wonderful it was to be home for at least 5 minutes. We are taking Amelia to the fair tonight for her first trip ever. We adults have big plans for eating greasy fair food, and I can't wait for Amelia to ride rides and see the animals at the petting zoo. I'll be back tomorrow with some fair pictures to share!!

PS - Amelia is going to be a GNOME for Halloween!!!
